What arrives before you do
Six things a crew usually has to guess
The platform pulls the patient’s record from health information exchanges and puts it on the screen the crew already has open.
Allergies
What the patient reacts to, before a drug goes in.
Prescriptions
Current medications and doses, from the record rather than the family.
Vitals
Recent readings held in the record, as a baseline for the one you take.
Advance directives
What the patient has already said they want.
Hospital and care team
Where they are known, and who is already treating them.
Next of kin
Who to call, without hunting for a phone number at the scene.
How it works
Three steps, before the doors open
-
The call comes in
A crew is dispatched to a patient who may be unconscious, confused, or simply unable to tell them anything useful.
-
The crew opens AtTheScene
The app runs on the laptop already in the truck, and on Android, iOS and PC. There is nothing to install at the scene.
-
The record arrives
Through health information exchanges and other data sources, the patient’s history appears before the crew reaches the door.
The first deployment
Ohio, March 2017
LifeSource Health Inc. has signed agreements in Ohio to give Emergency Medical Technicians access to a patient’s health information during an emergency run.
“The AtTheScene app will be installed on all of our techs’ laptops, and we are expecting them to use it every time they have an emergency run. There are approximately 1.1 million emergency transports statewide per year. We do about 55,000 transports per year, and the information is vital to improving patient service and outcome.”
The product
Built to sit next to the ePCR
AtTheScene is a cloud-based mobile platform. It does not replace the electronic patient care report; it feeds it, from the health information exchanges the agency and the hospital already belong to.
